Mark was appointed to the City Council in September 2018 and re-elected in April 2019 to a full term. Mark was born and raised in Downers Grove, IL. He attended Eastern Illinois University and obtained dual degrees, B.A. in History and a B.S. in Technology Education. He furthered his education at Aurora University with a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership,with a masters thesis focusing on school bond referenda, and a M.S. in STEM at Illinois State University. Mark has taught at the high school level for nineteen years, the past fifteen years at Victor J. Andrew High School, where he teaches engineering, graphic design, and CAD drafting courses. He coaches the boys bowling program, and is the lead advisor for both Illinois SkillsUSA and Youth & Government at the school. He has also led the innovative student exchange program between Hamburg, Germany and Andrew since 2010. He has served on numerous committees for his school district, and is currently in the D230 union leadership as a building chair and a part of the contract negotiate committee. Mark also sits on the board of directors for Illinois SkillsUSA.
Mark moved to Lockport in 2005, where he has been on the association board for the Townes of Cedar Ridge since its inception, starting as vice-president and now president. He also served as a trustee, president pro-tem, and secretary for the Homer Township Fire Protection District board from 2008-2017.
Mark enjoys tennis, traveling, biking, and running. He attends St. Dennis Parish in Lockport.
