Citizens Police Academy resumes Monday, August 16, 2021. The class meets once per week for 12 weeks on Monday evenings from 6-9 p.m. If you are interested in participating, please complete and return an application. After filling out the application a back ground check will be conducted on each applicant. This is an educational class and does not have any connection to employment. Apply as soon as possible as space is limited.
The goal of the class is to give citizens a chance to see how the Police Department operates and how officers are trained to respond to different calls. Officers educate through policy and procedures as well as through experiences. It is an opportunity for citizens to understand and see how police handle certain situations. Some of the topics of the classes include: DUI enforcement, Mock Court case trials, Use of Force, Shoot or Don't Shoot, Traffic Law and Accident Reconstruction, SWAT, and Investigations.
