[ARCHIVED] Open House Public Informational Meeting for Downtown Streetscaping

streetscape open house

Open House Public Informational Meeting
Thursday, July 9 from 4-6 p.m.
City Hall, 3rd Floor, Council Chambers

The City of Lockport invites you to attend an open house public informational meeting regarding the continuation of proposed streetscape improvements within the City’s downtown area, located at IL 171 (State Street) from 10th Street to 11th Street and IL 7 (9th Street) from IL 171 (State Street) to Hamilton Street. These are similar improvements that the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the City prepared a number of years ago in order to complete the recently constructed work along IL Route 171 (State Street), between 10th Street and 8th Street. The proposed streetscape elements will include bump-outs to shorten crosswalk lengths, adjustments to on-street parking, brick pavers, landscaped planters with railings, decorative benches and trash receptacles, refurbished ornamental light poles and resurfacing of the two street segments.

The public meeting will follow the Illinois Department of Public Health’s (IDPH) Restore Illinois social distancing guidelines. People attending the meeting are required to wear a face mask. V3 Companies (the engineering consultant for this project) and the City of Lockport personnel will be available to address questions and comments citizens may have about the project. Renderings of the proposed improvements will be available at the Open House as well as on the City’s website. Public comments can be sent via email in advance to contractor V3. Comments received by August 6, 2020, will become part of the official public meeting record.

Disabled persons planning to attend this meeting, who are in need of special accommodations, sign language interpreters, or other similar assistance, should notify the City of Lockport. For more information, contact Ben Benson, City Administrator via email or by phone, (815)-838-0549, ext. 2111.
