The 13th & State Street Signalization project was put into service in October 2014. This project included the widening of State Street from 12th Street to 14th Street to accommodate turn lanes, and the signalization of the intersection. The signal also included pedestrian signals for safe pedestrian crossing at the intersection.
The 13th Street Signalization was constructed with Federal Surface Transportation Funding obtained through the Will County Governmental League. This program funds 80% of construction and Phase 2 Engineering. The local share of Construction was split between the State of Illinois & the City, with the City's portion being funded with the revenues from the Metra Parking Facility.
