Good News for Some West Side Residents

Good news for the residents on the West Side (those living in Old Lockport- between the I&M Canal and Ship & Sanitary Canal).

This summer, the City of Lockport, working in cooperation with Chevron Land & Development Division, are making improvements on the 13th Street culverts at the I&M Canal.  Once finished, and accepted by the State and FEMA, home owners who are no longer in the floodplain can ask their mortgage companies to drop the flood insurance requirement.  Reduction coverage is not guaranteed, as that is between the home owner and their insurance company.  Find out more about the improvements, including a map of the affected area, by clicking the link provided.
