Division and Gougar Intersection Improvements and Signalization

Project will include the widening of both Gougar & Division at the intersection, to include turn lanes. Project will also include a traffic signal (including pedestrian signals), curb and gutter, storm sewer and landscape restoration.

Recent Updates
6/22/18 – Utility work in area complete. Preconstruction meeting scheduled with IDOT 6/29/18.

7th Street and Washington Avenue Reconstruction

Project will include full Reconstruction of 7th Street, from Madison to Washington, and Washington Street, from 7th to 8th. The improvements will include removal & replacement of the roadway, base, curb & gutter, storm sewer and landscape restoration.

Recent Updates

7/6/18 – Water main installation on 7th started. Approximately 510 ft installed. Note: Intersection of Madison & 7th to be closed down Monday, July 9th for cross street water main installation.

6/29/18 – Preparation for construction activities. Staging of construction material and equipment. Tree removal complete. Roadway construction markings made.

6/22/18 – ComEd and Nicor utilities work completed.

8th Street and Valley Lane Reconstruction

Project will include water main replacement, curb repair & replacement, sidewalk repair & replacement and roadway reconstruction on 8th Street and Valley Lane. Also included is roadway resurfacing on 8th Street from Adams Street to Summit Drive as well as full roadway reconstruction on Summit Drive from 7th Street to 8th Street.

Recent Updates

7/6/18 – Water main installation and pressure testing complete. Water testing in process.  

6/29/18 – Watermain installation 90% complete. Water main installed on 8th Street between Valley Ln and 9th Street as well as Valley Ln from Adams Street to 8th Street. All fire hydrants installed. Sidewalk removal complete.

6/22/18 – Construction layout and tree trimming complete. Resident construction notices distributed. Construction complete on approximately 300 ft of water main along 8th street.  

2018 Resurfacing Phase I

This project will involve resurfacing, patching, curb repair and sidewalk repairs across the City. Locations are various across the City.

Recent Updates

7/6/18 – Resurfacing, sidewalk removal and repair, and curb removal and repair complete on Summit Dr, Arrowhead South, and Bunratty Dr.

6/29/18 – Curb and drainage structure removal complete on Summit Drive. New curb and sidewalk installed. Arrowhead South subdivision curb and sidewalk removal and installation complete. Pavement removal started.

6/22/18 – Construction work started on Summit Drive south of Division Street. Curb removal and saw cutting started at intersection of Summit & Division.

Well 15

Project will involve the construction of a new deep well at the existing Well 10 Site, along 151st Street, just west of I-355. The new well will be a deep well and will include a water treatment facility as part of the project.

Recent Updates

6/22/18 – Layne’s subcontractor J&S started and completed construction of the drilling pad onsite this week. Layne is working on scheduling of our subcontractor to install silt fencing along the east, north and west edges of the pad that would drain into the adjacent farm fields.

Anticipated Projects

2018 Resurfacing Phase II
Commerce Street from 10th Street to 12th Street, Second Street from RR Tracks to Canal Street, Lincoln Street north of 9th Street. Grind off and replace surface layer of asphalt. Scheduled to start July 2018. Scheduled completion August 2018.

Oak Avenue Water Main
Install new water main along Oak Avenue from Deerwood Drive to Willow Walk Drive water main to complete loop and remove dead ends to minimize iron and particulate build up. Currently out for bid. Scheduled to start July 2018.

163rd Street Water Main
Install new water main across 163rd St to connect to Sagebrook subdivision to complete loop. Currently out for bid. Scheduled to start July 2018.

GIS Mapping
Collection of locations and public utilities data to provide accurate information and inventory of City owned infrastructure and underground utilities. Ongoing project over next few years.

Gougar Road Water Main
Gougar Road from 163rd Street north to Well 14 (Oak Prairie School) extension / loop connection. Scheduled to start October 2018.

151st Street Water Main
Install new water main along 151st St from MacGregor west approximately 600’. Estimated to start August 2018.

Farrell Rd Multi-Use Path
Install new multi-use path along Farrell Road from Bruce Rd to Division St. Estimated to start late summer / early fall 2018.

2018 Storm Water
Upgrade storm water piping system. Work planned for fall 2018.

Frances Street Storm Water
Install storm sewer to limit flooding along Frances St. Work planned for fall 2018.

Daviess Street Culvert Replacements
Chevron is replacing culverts under Daviess St for 13th St drainage ditch as part of the overall West Side Flood Improvement project. Work is scheduled to start summer of 2018.
