Public Transit

Lockport was built as a transportation hub because of its power location along the Des Plaines River. Today, an interstate highway, 2 state roads, 2 railroads, a nearby airport, and the canal round out the current modes of transportation accessible from downtown.

Metra Capture (1)

Metra

Lockport's commuter Metra train is the Heritage Corridor. The station is located at the corner of 13th Street and State Street.

Parking

The Metra lot has daily parking for $1 per day, using the automated pay boxes. There are also 53 permit parking spaces. Permits are sold quarterly at $60 per quarter for Quarter 1: January to March, Quarter 2: April to June, Quarter 3: July to September, and Quarter 4: October to December.

If you would like a permit, please mail a check in the amount of $60 to:

City of Lockport
Metra Permit Parking
222 E. 9th Street
Lockport, IL 60441

Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope so we can mail you the permit, or so we can mail your check back if we sell out of permits. Please write "Metra Permit Parking" on the check as well. If we have more requests for permits than permits available, we hold a "lottery" to assign the permits.

If you are leaving your car parked in the lot overnight, please contact the Lockport Police Department - Non-Emergency at (815) 838-2131. If you have any questions, please contact the Finance/Water Department at (815) 838-0549 x2103.
